Series 7 Stacking Chair

The four-legged Series 7 chair represents the culmination of the pressure-moulding technique that Søren Hansen, founder Fritz Hansen’s grandson, spent the 1920s and 30s refining. The iconic shape of the Series 7 is the result of Arne Jacobsen’s exploration of the possibilities of steam-bent veneer. The best selling chair in Fritz Hansen’s history comes in 3 different finishes: Natural veneer, coloured ash or lacquered. All chairs are made of pressure moulded sliced veneer with a base of chromed steel. The shell is also available in front- or fully upholstered versions in a wide range of fabrics and leather types. Swan Lounge Chair - Arne Jacobsen designed the Swan as well as the Egg for the lobby and lounge areas at the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, in 1958. Back then, the Swan was a technologically innovative chair: No straight lines, only curves. The shell of the Swan is made of polyurethane foam with glass fibre reinforcement. The shell is upholstered with cold cured foam and covered with fabric or leather. The seat carrier consists of a spindle of diameter 28 mm automate steel and an assembly plate of 5 mm steel sheet. The individual parts are welded and surface treated with matt zinc. The base consists of a satin chromed, swivel centre part of welded steel tubing and a 4-star base in injection moulded aluminum. The leg ferrules are in black-grey synthetic material. A range of materials, colours and finishes are available in a number of combinations. Prices may vary. Grand Prix 3130 Chair - The Grand Prix chair was introduced by Fritz Hansen at the Designers’ Spring Exhibition at the Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen, in 1957. Later that year, the chair was displayed at the Triennale in Milan where it received the Grand Prix: the finest distinction of the exhibition. Grand Prix comes in oak and walnut veneer with clear lacquer as well as in coloured ash. Front upholstery or full upholstery is available in a wide range of fabrics. The shell is steam bent in one piece of pressure moulded sliced veneer made out of 9 layers of veneer lined with Indian cotton on the inside. The base comes with 4 legs in Chromed steel tubes.
