Lara Bohinc’s new Orbit tables demonstrate her expertise with metal work techniques, whilst bringing forward her celestially inspired signature style. The two tables are constructed from thin square steel rods, which are laser-cut and then welded together in a combination of semi-circles and straight lines. This creates a maze-like base in chocolate bronze or a brass coated steel, with verdigris copper table tops. The table legs contrast with the verdigris patinated copper tops in circular, oblong and square forms. Like the Celeste console, launched in April 2018 at Milan Design Week, Orbit’s copper surfaces are finished with verdigris - a patina whose colour has been gradually intensified after being applied to the metal. The process creates an intense yet airy shade of blue-green.
