87.11 Pendant Lights

87.11 is a random configuration of eleven 87 pendants hung from a rectangular canopy. The drop lengths of the pendants are randomiSed between a client specified range of heights to variously cluster and scatter. The result is an ambient installation or fi eld of light. A matrix of hot glass is stretched and folded back onto itself numerous times as it cools. Air is trapped between the folds and stretched along the grain of the loop, creating microfilaments that give the piece a pearlescent optical quality. A LED light source is introduced at one end of the loop casting light through the microfilaments and registering a gentle gradient.

The drop lengths of the pendants are randomized between a client specified range of heights to variously cluster and scatter. The result is an ambient installation or field of light. The 73 is formed by blowing liquid glass into a folded and highly heat-resistant ceramic fabric vessel. The resulting shape has a formal and textural expression intuitively associated with fabric, which becomes permanent and rigid as it cools. 28.5 Semi Rigid Pendant Light - The 28 semi-rigid is a flexible suspension system enables pendants to be nestled in close-knit groups or loosely composed in a wider field, allowing each piece to be perceived individually. 28 is an exploration of specificity in manufacturing. Instead of designing form itself, here the intent was to design a system of making that yields form. Individual 28 pendants result from a complex glass blowing technique whereby air pressure is intermittently introduced into and then removed from a glass matrix which is intermittently heated and then rapidly cooled. The result is a distorted spherical shape with a composed collection of imploded inner shapes, one of which acts as a shade for the light source. Standard 28s are made with clear glass exterior spheres and milk white interior lamp holder cavities. 28s are possible with infinite versatility in colour compositions, sizes and shapes. | Arteficius
